Nelson Davila on Significance of 4th of February Civic-Military Rebellion
Venezuelan ambassador to Australia, Nelson Davila, speaks about the significance of the events on the 4th of February 1992, when a group of civilians and young army officers, including now Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez Frias, attempted to over throw the government of Carlos Andres Perez. The civic- military rebellion transformed Venezuela’s national political panorama and is now viewed as one of the key antecedents to the development of the Bolivarian Revolution.

Through a national assembly of spokespersons which took place in March last year, the National Association of Alternative, Free and Community Media (ANMCLA) adopted feminism, sexual and gender diversity, and the anti-patriarchal struggle as a line of action and central nexus of the organisation. From discussions realised after the meeting, an agenda of education and production workshops was planned to generate and disseminate our politics in this area of struggle.
